Finally, after a week I am getting to do a wrap up of the 2008 ASAE Annual Conference that was held in San Diego from August 16th to the 19th. There are an abundant amount of memories I can take from this trip and conference, but I will try to hit on a few or so points that truly made this trip successful.

Sterling Raphael, and myself headed out to San Diego pumped and jazzed to be a part of another ASAE event, and had prepped to run a booth in the exhibit hall with all of the many impressive Convention & Visitors Bureau booths from all cities across the country alongside in the hall. Throughout the days we were delighted and spoke with many association leaders on NFi Studios‘ technology solutions offered to associations, including MemberFuse.

Also, we were able to attend a few sessions, including “Meet the Association Community Bloggers” led by Jamie Notter, and Ben Martin and a social media lab, “Leveraging the Power of Real Time Communications” put on by Maddie Grant and Lisa Junker. It was inspiring to be surrounded by insiteful community leaders, and Sterling and I were delighted to meet this list of rockstars including the ones above and below:
- Lindy Dreyer
- Matt Baehr
- Jeff De Cagna
- Renato Sogueco
- Tom Morrison
Along with the education and networking, came the nightly activities. The Young Association Professionals, better known as YAP, put on an 80’s/90’s party that was a blast. Of course I had to dress up, and give Sterling the idea to do Don Johnson from Miami Vice which is pictured below
I am proud to be a part of YAP, and look forward to more events in the future.

Overall, there are so many memories and comments I could make about the conference and the trip, including that the San Diego weather was amazing!! But truly it was a successful conference for our team and we made friends for life(FOGDIROG!). I am proud to be working within the association industry, and continue to gain the knowledge and education on this industry through the many inspiring leaders. Thank you to all of you, and I look forward to the next ASAE event!

Elizabeth! Pleasure meeting you and thanks much for the link love. I will return the favor ASAP. I’ll be down in Orlando, FL in the coming weeks so will definitely ping you guys when I’m down. Renato
