How do you track the weather?

As I am approaching going on a cruise soon, I have been checking the weather, and the storm tracking every day now.  I find it so easy to find out whereever I am at what is going on with the storms.    First, I look at Twitter… I am following Hurricane Alerts and each day there are updates and a link to a map that shows the progress of the storms, and where they will be each day.

Also, not only Hurricane Alerts, but plenty of tweets are going across the country… Tweets from the Red Cross and twitter tracking for Gustav.

I downloaded Weather Bug and Weather Underground for the iPHONE which also has tracking features, including a live tracking tool on Weather Bug.

Communication is so important in times like these with all of the storms, and before we lacked in resources.  However today we have evolved to have social media tools to keep us all informed.

With all of my tracking each day it seems as if I will miss Hanna, hopefully get by Ike, and miss Josephine… we shall see… :)

This Day in History

This Day in History…

1) Hurricane Katrina struck the U.S. Gulf Coast three years ago as a Category 4 hurricane. Despite being only the third most powerful storm of the 2005 hurricane season, Katrina was the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States. The hurricane caused damage to the New Orleans area, as well as the coasts of Mississippi and Alabama. Aid from around the world poured in to help the residents of these areas who not only lost their jobs, but homes, food, and water. Today the memory keeps living on and people are still rebuilding their lives.

President Bush declared September 16 a national day of remembrance for the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

2) The Beatles played their last major live concert at Candlestick Park, California. The band continues to record together until their breakup in 1970.

3) Michael Jackson turns 50!

It will provide collaboration for the Central Florida tech and creative community.

Connecting 08: ASAE’s Annual Conference Wrap Up

Finally, after a week I am getting to do a wrap up of the 2008 ASAE Annual Conference that was held in San Diego from August 16th to the 19th. There are an abundant amount of memories I can take from this trip and conference, but I will try to hit on a few or so points that truly made this trip successful.

ASAE 2008 Annual Conference

Sterling Raphael, and myself headed out to San Diego pumped and jazzed to be a part of another ASAE event, and had prepped to run a booth in the exhibit hall with all of the many impressive Convention & Visitors Bureau booths from all cities across the country alongside in the hall. Throughout the days we were delighted and spoke with many association leaders on NFi Studios‘ technology solutions offered to associations, including MemberFuse. Read the rest

ASAE & The Center for Association Leadership’s 2008 Annual Conference

In one week from today I will be flying out to San Diego with Sterling Raphael, to represent NFi Studios at the 2008 ASAE Annual Conference. This will be our 2nd event with ASAE, as we attended and exhibited at the Technology Conference back in January, and we are even more prepared than last to make the most out of the conference experience.

We are one of the exhibitors for this conference in the exhibit hall and have prepared an impressive booth and presentation to showcase for association leaders. If you will be attending the conference, please come stop by and see us at booth #3243, as we will be discussing technology solutions offered to associations, including demonstrating MemberFuse™.
